MULTICULTURAL KICK-OFF COMMUNITY ADVISOR

 

 

Job Description

 

 

Essential Qualifications:  University of Minnesota student enrolled in any full-time day school program. Interest in communities of color and knowledge of Multicultural issues.  Knowledge of and utilization of student services and programs administered by the Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE).  Prior leadership experience.  Have and maintain a 2.5 cumulative G.P.A. 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrable evidence of prior leadership experience. Demonstrable knowledge of the wide variety of Student Organizations on campus, what activities they organize and sponsor, and how to become a member of their organization. Demonstrates an understanding of the range of issues students of color may face as they matriculate into the University of Minnesota’s large campus setting. 

 

 

Time Commitment: Must attend the entire Ambassador Leadership
Retreat on Saturday, April 18th 9:00am-5:00pm.  Must attend the Ambassador Cookout on Friday, May 8th at 4:30-pm-6:30pm in the Klaeber Court Courtyard. Must attend two training sessions on Friday, August 28th, Monday, August 31st. Must be at the Kick-off at all times on Tuesday, September 1st and Wednesday, September 2nd.

 

Responsibilities:   Communicate with your assigned students the week before the Kickoff via e-mail (message and addresses provided by the Kickoff Coordinator). Lead small group ice-breakers and small group student panels to discuss frequently/commonly asked questions. Must remain with your assigned students and team at all events both days.  Also must be able to speak about and promote the wide variety of student support services and resources that are available in the Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence.
