Citizen-Scholar Fellowship Program
If you are a first generation college freshman fall 2005 and are interested in public service, democracy, and leadership opportunities you may be one of the 20 Americorps Citizen Scholar Fellow applicants we are looking for.
Citizen-Scholar Fellows balance their academic studies with 10 hours per week in the program, including community service and training. You can pick from various community service projects which include service: with youth and their families in public schools and community centers; with ethnic community service organizations; and with high school students in the University Upward Bound programs.
If you have college work-study eligibility you can be paid $10 per hour for your service and training hours in the Family Literacy Programs. Stipends are offered in other programs if you have financial aid eligibility.
As in all Americorps programs an educational award is offered at the conclusion of the year. Citizen-Scholar Fellows receive a $1,000 educational voucher to be used at any point their University career.
If you are interested in this opportunity please email: Jean Strommer, strom005@umn.edu, for an application.
